(3 CLASSES + SET DAY)
This introductory class focuses on building a foundation from which each actor can develop their unique, individual style. All too often actors bounce around from class to class without ever developing a successful method to approach a new set of sides. Steve will work with each of you individually to find the method that works best for you.
This intermediate class will expand your skills in script analysis and how to build a character. You will explore how to deliver unwritten, unplanned choices that create compelling characters. Each week we'll pick scripts that suit your interest, type and where you are employable in the marketplace.
Our advanced class, for those who audition regularly, will focus on your ability to make quick informed decisions with only a few pages of material. Are you auditioning for lead, co-star, or guest star? Are you delivering exposition? emotional content? Should you make creative choices or play it straight? We'll also explore tone & help you find yourself within the role.
This special session culminates in shooting a high production value scene for your demo reel.
Week 1: THE AUDITION Actors will be given material from a specified genre; our in-house casting director will give feedback and adjustments.
Week 2: THE CALLBACK You will build upon the given adjustments from the previous week and explore character development & storyline.
Week 3: BLOCKING REHEARSAL ON SET Actors will be cast in a scene and attend a blocking rehearsal with the writer and director on set.
Week 4: SHOOT DAY Actors will be filmed on a live working set.

ABOUT STEVE HANNEMAN
Voted the New York SAG/AFTRA Conservatory’s most popular teacher!
Over the past 20 years, 1817 Studio Founder, Steve Hanneman, has studied the industry’s most prominent actors and directors and spoken with them about their craft and process.
Through his research, he has found that the key to an actor's success is unlocking each individual's art of storytelling as it relates to the character in a given set of circumstances.
His goal is to demystify the acting process as we know it and create opportunities for actors to become working actors.
